scope base and rings
Here are a couple of pics of a base and rings I just completed. It is not my style as I had to match these to some existing browning engraving..

Re: scope base and rings
Looks good Neil!
Did you mirror the other three scrolls on the rings? |

Re: scope base and rings
I'm not sure what you mean by mirroring. this was all done freehand. I drew the pattern on paper until I knew it and then put it on the base and rings with a polished scribe freehand. I much prefer this method of work because it builds my reprotoire of floral patterns.

Re: scope base and rings
Neil
I meant did you draw the design once and transfer it or did you draw it again each time (which is what you did). A little transfer wax (basically wax + graphite) and some clear tape will let you copy a design from place to place. You can also mirror image it during the transfer if you want. |

Re: scope base and rings
Hi Neil,
I like the way you engraved the base of the scopemount! Was looking for some way to engrave a circle somewhat simular. Do think I was thinking to difficult. Seeing yours makes me think "less can be much more". Thanks for posting. Daniel |

Re: scope base and rings
Although I am not there completely, I believe that less can be more sometimes. Pedersoli has a couple of engravings that this really jumps out at me. Hopefully I will fully understand this someday.
