Hi from australia :D
hi guys,
i was surprised to see an online community of engravers (seeing as most of the people i know in the industry are completely technologically illiterate) i work at an expanding trophy store in a country town in Victoria, Australia called Wangaratta. i'm 18 years old, and work as a trainee, and although the pay is crummy. the engraving and job is exciting and always changing although i don't do any hand engraving, i aspire to learn how to one day. my specialty is Laser engraving. we use Universal CO2 laser. is there an area of this forum for laser engraving??? As modestly as i can put it, some of my works have come up looking stunning. I opened a new area of the business specialising in iPod engraving. i'll upload some photos some time. anyway, nice to meet you all |

Welcome to the forum!
I don't think you'll find too much laser work here since this is a hand engraving forum. We tend to like looking at neat pictures though, even if they're only 'related' to hand engraving. Browse around and I think you may find some pictures of some work that makes you want to try some more 'primitive' technology. Check out some of Phill Coggan's threads, or those of Marcus Hunt, among many others. Our host, Steve Lindsay has a few things you might find interesting as well. |

Re: Hi from australia :D
G'day Ronan,
Good to see another fellow Aussie on the site. At the moment there are several - some from Victoria - no doubt they will make themselves known to you soon enough. As already mentioned this site has very little to do with laser engraving which I presume is akin to CNC work but who knows you may get the bug and want to expand your business even further. Browse around and be amazed at some of the pieces shown. Take care and feel free to ask questions, Roger |
