howdy from So. Cal.
Howdy folks.. engraving virgin here.. I'm interested in learning about engraving as a means to embellish my custom knives. I have been a custom knifemaker and bladesmith for 12 years. You can check out my work at http://www.jeridjohnson.com or connect with me on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/jeridjohnsonknives where I post a lot of build pics and completed knives.
Below is an example of one of my recently completed hunting knives. Cheers, Jerid |

Re: howdy from So. Cal.
You make very nice looking knives. I'm sure you will be most welcome into the forum, there are many friendly and helpful members here. Do you have an idea of what style or type of engraving you wish to pursue or start with?
Bob

Re: howdy from So. Cal.
Thanks for the compliment Bob. Pretty much interested in scrollwork on non ferrous metals at this time. Hand push manual engraving.. Guards and pin heads.
I recently did this peened finish on a bronze guard and really like the texture and depth it brought to the piece. I figure engraving would do the same/similar. Between the gravers, sharpening, and clamping tools this stuff adds up $$ quick.. Reminds me of all the tooling needed for leather work.. Cheers, Jerid |

Re: howdy from So. Cal.
Without a doubt the effect provides the knife a subtle elegant charm. I think you will find a number of possibilities using engraving that will provide what you are looking for. Good tools and materials are seldom available at a low cost, the better ones have longevity and value. Do you intend to use an instructor?
