I might be mistaken but I think I've seen pictures of this knife before, I love it! Thanks for posting. Dwayne

Dwayne,

You've seen one I engraved a few years ago. Apparently Pedretti copied my design. Almost line per line.

That is really sad. Can Pedretti suddenly not think on his own. Did he not think this would get back to the States?

Ray, I am so surprise when I saw the photo of the post, seems see it before, very impressive. Is it just Dwayne messy up with the photos? Do you have a detail photo? I want to see which one with better engraving technique or they are just exactually the same.

My illegal advise:

1. Keep a copy of this thread
2. contact a lawyer
3. don't do anything and wait until the show
4. contact the custom (we here in Hong Kong such case is handle by custom) arrest the one who you think he is copy you.

Don't be angry when you think people copy your works, you should happy.
Don't be happy becasue your trouble is coming if you are going to sue and you cannot proof that you are the first one who deisgn this graphic.

check if Mr. Antonio Fogarizzu is rich enough to pay the court fee for you before issue a court case
check if you have any sketch, drawings, photos, showing you are the FIRST ONE who engrave this design. Your anouncement/post of a photo in in the web is a good proof (so don't be selfish to hide your works[not you Ray]) you are the owner of the excellent design:smilie5:

You need to contact your lawyer now, you will be busy......
Good luck!

Congrautlations if your work is copied, it proof you are master of the master

Dang Ray, That just ain't right! Goes back to all the stuff we've read about studying vs. copying. Yours was the one I saw before but didn't realize it until you posted this photo of yours. Dwayne

Until the latter makes the claim of owning an original I would be flattered.

I have no intentions of suing or anything like that. Life is to short to get ulcers over such things. I'm surprised but not really upset.

What probably happened is a customer came to Antonio wanting one like the pair I did for him. During the time I was not taking work due to backlog and the customer had to go somewhere else. It would have been nice if he had changed the design though.

But Haraga does bring up an interesting point. When an artist of a certain stature does a piece of work don't most people assume the work is their own?

Oh, oh, I had better clarify my last post. I should have posted the word "design" after the word "original". Sorry.

Antonio Fogarizzu emailed to day and ask me to let you know that he had nothing to do with arranging the engraving on this one. It was between the owner and the engraver.

I really don't have a big issue with it I was just surprised by it.

It is comforting ot know he had nothing to do with it though.

Nice job Ray, I would be a little miffed except the owner may have shown a picture of your knife and said can you do this. Do we know if Stephano or Gian Carlo did the copy?
