Hi everyone,
This is my first knife. I took Ray's beginner class 3 weeks ago and I'm just getting started! What do you think? I'm just starting to get details in on the scene. I've kinda picked a method and I'm gonna run with it, but it'd be great to hear from people who've engraved many reptiles and their technique for shading them and engraving scales. I drew this design on my phone using autodesk sketchbook and transfers made using a Canon pixma printer. Thank you for looking! |

Here are some of my fish scales as an example of shading. By artistic convention, fish scales tend to be rounded, and reptile/dragon scales tend to be more pointed, but I would shade them both the same way. Good luck, and you’re doing a great job! Ray’s a great teacher! Tom |
