Learning from far away
Hi everyone.
I'm a french parisian guy, and actually i'm not engraving What's bringing me here is that I'm a real fan of doing everything by myself, as much as possible. I'm Driving harley's and "rebuilding" them. I'm really attracted to all about handwork. I'm thinking about opening a shop in France and doing as much of things by myself. I've seen a lot of engraving and it really brings the desire to learn it. My problem is that nobody does that next to me so I've got to start by myself. I've already read and watch a lot of things about it. I actually have no tools (I'm really in the starting block), so I've decided to make them (Told you, i like doing all by myself) cause I'm more interesting in engraving with hammer and chisel. That's actually all for the moment, Thanks for accepting me here, and thanks for all the posts you already made, that are going to help me a lot. See you around, MooD (pronounce moody) |

Re: Learning from far away
Well, I am proud of myself...I figured out the Moody part before I clicked on your thread.
I suggest you obtain a copy of the book The Art of Engraving by James B. Meek. It will give you a thorough understanding of the basics of engraving and engraving tools. You will then be able to ask better and more relevant questions. PS...welcome to the forum!
