I AM CLOSE FRIENDS WITH WAYNE D'ANGELO.AND A FEW OTHER ENGRAVERS I HAVE BEEN LUCKY ENOUGH TO MEET OVER THE YEARS.I HAVE A DELIME HERE?I HAVE A S&W 1917 TRIPLE-LOCK.455MKII.MAY BE A 44 CONVERSION?INFO I HAVE IS THAT IT WAS SENT TO SHAPELIGH HARDWARE,St LOUIS MO. ON 12/29/1917 AS PART OF A LARGE SHIPMENT OF 455'S, MADE FOR THE BRITISH GOV.I WOULD LIKE MORE INFO?WHO ENGRAVED THIS BEAUTY WOULD REALY MAKE-MY-DAY!!!6 1/2" BARREL,SER#12906*,STAMPED ON THE LEFT-INSIDE OF THE FRAME,RIFGHT UPPER INSIDE 90...AND 8.47 ON THE BOTTOM RIGHT INSIDE MEG2004 R-F F. ALL I HAVE FOR MARKS.."DOC BLACK" IS ENGRAVED ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE BACK STRAP..AWSOME ENGRAVING JOB..AS PER MR. D'ANGELO'S COMMENT..ANY HELP HERE WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. 413 436 5885.T.Y. BOPE

Mr. Bope,

The scrollwork on your gun is characteristic of the work of Michael Gouse who is a contemporary engraver in Montana. You can probably confirm this by calling him or sending a message.
