Hello there from Denmark:-)
I haven't been here again for a while, so I just wanted to share one of my latest projects. It's a miniature bust of Hans Christian Andersen in 18ct gold. The size of the head is 1 cubic millimeter. I started this under the first covid lockdown and worked on it in the evenings, trying to focus on something entirely different. (Took me 70 hours to make!) I have worked alot in small scale, but had always been wondering what was the smallest possible size to manage to make a likeness of a real person :-) Cheers, hope you all get on well despite everything! Best wishes, Hanne🤗 |

Astounding!
It's hard enough sculpting life size and making it look good, to do it at that scale? Incredible. |

Thanks alot Jim! I don't know how I would fare with a life sized one, I'm too used to my microscope!;-) But I realized on the way, that making it so small isn't faster than making it bigger. It seems to take the same amount of movements, tool strokes and turning around for comparing sides as it probably would in any size..
Best greetings! Hanne👋🏼 |

I've made a few miniature knives, I understand exactly.

What can a person say that would do justice to such a remarkable work of art. Incredible. One sneeze or cough away from decapitation. So in your spare time do you do eye surgery on ants? I would have loved to look through your eyes to watch you work.

Thank you Roger! No, I haven't tried ant surgery yet:-)))
While working I was mostly afraid for his nose, because sometimes just making a careless move with your hand or tool came quite close to scratching him. Next time I start a miniature I'll try to take videos on the way ![]() ![]() |
