Default Im Chad in WI

Hi I've taken 3 class's of Roger Sampson's on hammer and chisel engraving.
I've been working on learning this challenge for about 6 years.
I am currently trying to learn push graving and am already learning why that is sooo much more difficult. Aparantly its my lifes dream to be a ham fisted gorilla. Also have been recieving help from Tim Herman via internet.
No questions just wanted the prompter to leave me alone!

Hi Daniel Im afraid I don't have a camera capable of taking such close in shots.
I am currently working on copying the lower picture on page 386 of Il Grande Libro della Incisioni.
My biggest problem besides depth control is the long graceful curves, slip outs!!!
Ive got at least 50 hours in on this and I can see steady improvment.
Most of the time when I'm doing shade line that 'bump' up against another line I can now prevent myself from slipping right through all the previous work. Yea me!!!

Oh dear,
Now I am getting even more curious!
I know the bumps into other engraved lines. Really hard not to do.
Don't know the lower picture on page 386 of Il Grande Libro della Incisioni.
Any chance of where to look at it?
50 hours, is like spending a lot of time on just 1 engraving. That means some dedication is in order. Do you have a friend with a good camera? Scanners can produce nice pictures too you know!

Never mind me though, just engrave and post pictures if you like or if you can.

Greetings,

Daniel.

Im afraid the scanner is all wonky but I found some old pictures of a compass I did with H&C.
This is about two years ago, I tried it on ebay with no takers
The scroll is my first attempt at drawing on my own, not my strongsuit.
The book I mentioned is one of Marco E. Nobili's. 'Great book of Engraving' is the english translation.
I made both the hammers one is .75 ounce the other is .50 ounce there is 32 grams in an ounce you'll have to do the math yourself!
Yes I hand carved those handles.Sometimes having time is better then having money!
The graver handles I had someone do for me.
Is there a way to tell members by proximity?
there are two pros by me but I don't feel right asking them to help me for free.
But mabye there is another newbie like me near by who has figured out different things then me?
So this is my shout out.
I am about 1.5 hours north of Minneapolis Mn and wouldn't mind company.

Daniel

I have that book - it's a very ambitious project, at least if he's also doing all the English Scroll.

Chad

Nice work!

Check the Networking forum to see if anyone's near you.

And I'll bet a polite email to the pros near you wouldn't hurt. They may be busy right now (BLADE starts Friday) but it's worth a shot.

Chad,

If you hope to get the most out of interactions on this forum fill out your profile information. Some of us will not respond to or give information to posters who are a mystery. At least you told us you are from somewhere in WI and showed some work. That's a good start. Some folks come here and are a complete mystery with only a cryptic screen name to identify them then ask for information that will take time and effort to answer.

Good luck in your engraving quest,

CRB

Alright I managed to take a halfway decent photo.
I put it in my album, the dimensions are roughly 2.5 x 2.5 inches.
I currently have at least 50 to 60 hours in this.
Also how do I get to put up one of those cool quotes at the bottom?
