Unhappy Re: NEWBEE aust

Hey trackerscout, welcome ! Can you show us some of your scrim-work ? Just curious, as I 'm making my first attempts on scrim an engraving too. The problem here in Belgium is to find some good (legal) cleaned bone, ivory or tooth material to work with ! A butcher gave me a fresh cow bone last year, but it was a hell of a mess to clean and de-grease it. A very demotivating experience for a 'newbee' scrimmer. Kind regards, Paulsph

Hi Trackerscout,

Where in Oz are you? There are a few members here from Australia so you may have some local company to network with.

Catch you soon,
Roger

PAULSPH,

If you want to do some scrim practice, try doing it on tagua nut. Here is a link: http://www.scrimshaw.com/faq.html

Thank you for the good tip, Roger! Scrimshaw-practise on Tagua nuts, at least a good alternative instead of messing up some rare to find 'legal ivory' !! ...However, it seems Tagua nuts are not easy to find over here in Europe.
Kind regards, Paulsph
