Default 14 Years old and well on his way

Guys and Gals,
I just thought I would post this practice plate that my 14 year old son, Kendall recently completed. This plate is one from the Ron Smith practice plates. He has, what I believe, to have an unbelievable natural talent. He first shocked me with his excellent drawing when he was about 5 years old. I have quite a few of his first drawings posted all over my shop. Naturally he hates them and wants me to take them down but........aint gonna happen. I'm a proud dad. When I got my Lindsay Palm control he just picked it up and starting cutting lines. I has had a lot of fun. I softly mentioned to him that if he were to spend less time on the Xbox playing video games and more time practicing he could really have some serious skills. Well he has taken a little more time. Now I am loosing time at the bench! He has about 20 hours under his belt engraving. I need to win a contest and get him his own Palm Control so I can get some work done!:yesnod:
Thanks for looking,
Rich Hambrook

That's pretty awesome Rich!

This is cool. We are getting our own local engraving community built here Jefferson county.

Lets see, we have You, your son , Ron Reimer, A couple of the guys and gals you work with like Mary and AJ, Nathan Dickenson that lives next door to Ron, myself and I am sure I am forgetting someone. I would include my sister but she lives in the next county. I know of a few in St Louis county too

That's a pretty good per capita ratio for a mostly rural county. And folks think engraving is a dying art. :smilie5:

Keep this kid going. He has come too far to turn back now. :whoo:

I understand this plate was the third one done. To think he has this kind of talent with basically no experience makes me anxious to see what he could be capable of doing after receiving formal training and getting some practice under his belt. Hurrah and keep up the good work.

Thank you for your comments guys, I need to get Kendall over his bashfulness so he can thank you and respond to you himself. He is quite the modest and bashful guy when it comes to things like this.

Hi Rich,

This is very cool, I hope your son is taking lots of art courses. I can also identify with his xbox habit, .

Best regards,
Kaitlin

I am sorry I haven't been able to respond earlier. I have been out of town. My son has now started school and football. He won't be able to do a whole lot more of engraving for now.
