Here is an ink print of an engraving I did some time ago on a flute mouth piece.

Thanks Peter and Dave.
![]() Here are two more. For gold flutes they were generally using 14k rose. Silver one They sent out a scrap piece of gold with the bend in it for their logo to be engraved. They shot a picture and used it for a cover of their catalog.

Steve,
The confident beauty of your cuts is inspiring, and it takes a special person to cut into an expensive solid 14 K flute with all the work almost finished! I admire your steady hand. If you are leaning over on wide bright cuts, say, in the western bright style, at what width would you put aside your uniform heel 120 dgree graver and go for a flat graver? Rod |

Beautiful!
If you don't mind me asking, how did you do the round dots on the gold one Steve? Do you use punches of different sizes, or do you actually cut them? I'm curious about all of the dots, but particularly the ones at the tips of the tendrils.

Beautiful Steve. As Rod mentioned, your cuts are so smooth it is astounding. I especially like the design in gold. It appears to be fairly simple (as in few cuts) but it is extremely attractive.
Thanks for posting them, Peter |

Very very nice Steve!! Elegant. I can see how you can have a soft spot for the 116 degree graver.

Another silver one. This is a pattern adapted from one of the dover caligraphy pen books.

On this last flute, did you disassemble it or was it apart when you got it?

Hi Bill, Brannens sent it in pieces. After engraving it was sent back and they assembled and placed the pads in the key cups.

Steve,
It's refreshing to see an engraving that leans to illustration. I think engraving as a print making medium and art form is very much underutilized.

Awesome as always Steve. Such tight lines too. I bet you do not drink even a sip of coffee. Your hands have got to be so freaking steady. Unbelievable work.

hahaha well Steve if your not as steady in the morning then you may as well drink a little bit of coffee. Either that or just work in the afternoon. your call on that one but I still cannot find a single shaky line on your work. so i dont think its a problem for you.
