Howdy from Tulsa
My name is Donald Franson and I am very new to engraving but want to learn.
About 35 years ago I made jewelry in a high school art program and spent a year doing lost wax casting for a jeweler, I have an industrial arts degree and have spent 30 years as a painter and own an automotive paint repair business.
I have always had hobbies to keep me busy and for the past few years I have been doing Gun repair and restoration. I specialize in finishes such as the Parkerizing, Hot dip Bluing, Color case hardening and more recently the baked on painted finishes.
What I would like to do is to learn how to engrave so that I can repair damaged engraved items as well as do some original work of my own.
Looking forward to watch this forum and have a place I can jump in when I get stumped. Right now I guess I need to do some reading and studying about different kinds of engraving before I invest in any tools.
