My name is Turtle and I am knew to Engraving but have been been practicing precious metal smithing for a little over a year. This is the first forum I have joined and am excited to begin this journey down the hand engraving road. I have not purchased any tools or books yet and am looking for advice to get started. I've been making scratches for about a year now with Steve's palm control. I've been surprised by the number of those engraving in Montana. Give me a call if you're in town and want to give a few tools a try.

wow! Its awsome to know that Montana has its own. I am really looking forward to begining. I've been researching just a little bit about what kind of tools to get and a good book I can start with. I am thinking that I should start with a push graver and work up to a foot pedal. Steves palm control look like an excellent way to go in the long run. Since I don't have a mentor here I am truly grateful for the replys and any help that is offered! Thank you.
