In 2007, talented custom knife maker Warren Osborne built this knife for me. This is a trap door automatic with black lip pearl inlays and damascus blade.
I had sent the knife to Italian artist Manrico Torcoli for engraving and recently the knife was returned. The bulino detail is exquisite and the knife is now completed. Thank you Engraving Forum for all the insight that helped me conceive and complete this project! ![]() |

Uni...,
I want to thank you not only for taking the time and effort to post the pictures of your knife but also for being a patron of the engraver's art ![]() The patronage of those like you is the engine that drives engravers to create and excel. It is no small thing to work with the engraver on the concept then wait months for the finished product and then, of course, to pay for it. My hat is off to you and the other patrons who support hand engraving. Roger

In the world of custom knives what is meant by "The presentation side" and why is it called that? Thanks, Roger

Hi Roger, The presentation side is the left side(blade pointed left, edge down) Most makers mark the blade on this side and it is the side you see if you are right handed and holding the knife. And typically if the knife is cased, this will be the side that is shown. B.
