Default shading video

I uploaded some of these videos on youtube some time ago but I notice that I must not have posted some since the views are lower than some of the others. Anyway here is one.

I've been wondering steve

when you do your backgrounds do you darken with paint or just leave it as is after grinding away?

Hi Andrew, I darken the background with flat black lacquer.
Hi Dave, Can you see the video now? It is showing for me. Anyone else see it?

Hi Steve,
I thought that you used "Black Background Antique" sold by Gesswein to blacken your shading and backgrunds. I think that this was in an earlier post by you.

Hi Tom and Dave, Not sure why the youtube video isn't showing on your iphones.

It is the universal 116 degree point/template

Yes that is the black I use made by gesswein. It is lacquer paint, flat black. The pigment is good and concentrated in it. Then in the fine shading cut I use an oil based ink.

Steve,

your video is playing beautifully for me right here on the forum, on my laptop.

Very good clarity ad resolution!

I particularly like the part starting about 6:15 where you use shading to turn one large inlay into three smaller ones.
