Grumpy Toad katakiri-bori
Hey guys.
I recently finished this chasaji (tea-scoop) in iron, 115mm long. Belly in pure silver nunome zogan (koftgari). Rust patina finish The engraving is katakiri-bori which emulates sumi ink painting, one of my favorite engraving techniques. Re: Grumpy Toad katakiri-bori
Very nice Jim! The Grumpy really comes through!
I also really enjoyed your other post on the subject. Thanks for sharing it. I am interested in learning more about katakiribori. Who do you see as the modern masters of this style of engraving in Japan? Might as well take advantage of being over here.

If you get to Kyoto you should visit the Kitomizu-Sannenzaka Museum. They always have some fantastic metalwork on display and sometimes special exhibits. http://www.sannenzaka-museum.co.jp/index_e.html
