Default Odd request.

Without getting too in-depth on the details,

I need to ask a question about manufacturing a product. I need to produce a replica 303 bullet in 925.

I do not think casting this will work as injecting it will be tedious (assuming its two halves and hollow) so im guessing it will be CNC machine lathed or struck.. or however they make bullet casings?

(maybe soft metal mould..??)

The order (if we get it) will be for about 800kg's (yes.. KG) worth of silver for the product.

Is anyone here in the gun or bullet manufacturing business? or any leads?

any leads appreciated!

Regards
CB

most bullets and cases are drawn through a die, I am sure 925 is softer then brass

Chris,

Contact some of the bullet manufacture people that make cast lead bullets.

Lyman comes to mind, but there are many others.

Of course, with silver you could swage the body of the case and solder or weld the head on.

I assume you mean cartridge instead of bullet. A cartridge consists of a case, bullet, primer, and powder. You are probably going to leave out the powder and alive primer.

Bullets are either swaged or cast. Swaging is usually done by commercial makers. Lead wire is put into a die and swaged to the proper configuration. Casting is done with a bullet mold and they are poured one or two at a time. You need the correct mold to cast the bullet you are looking for and shrinkage must be taken into consideration since you won't be using lead.

.303 brass cases are available and you could silver plate them. We just don't know exactly what you are trying to accomplish. Or perhaps you want to cast the whole unit at once in which case you would probably want to have them investment cast.
