Re: practice knife
Jacques,
I am so happy to see this post of your work! Quite outstanding. A superb layout and execution. Would you be willing to write something to us about your approach, it would make a great tutorial? I have many questions, but will mention only one ... what was your approach to the lovely intersecting and expanding arcs. They look like you used a tiny flat?? best Rod Last edited by rod; 11-24-2007 at 11:46 AM. |

Re: practice knife
Great work! Some of the nicest I've seen - but since its only practice - I offer $250 for it.
If it'd been "for real", you'd probably need another zero in there. |

Re: practice knife
Jacques,
This is unreal. I need to get one of your engraving pieces very soon. Before they become un-affordable. How is the Mauser floor plates, that I send you, coming along? |

Re: practice knife
OK, Jacques. Keep up the practice. Another couple of days and you should have it down.
All joking aside, that is really nice, Jacques. Excellent work, especially with the arcs. That is very hard to layout and cut with the precision of your work. I've tried something similar, but unlike you, I actually really need practice. Very nice job. Thanks for sharing! Dave |

Re: practice knife
How do you lay out and cut that background between the scrolls? If it were just straight intersecting lines to make up a checker board pattern that would be rather easy. But, each segment is rounded here and looks like a lot of work and I'd like to understand how you went about it, very nice!

Re: practice knife
tim the lay out is rather easy just take away the scrolls and you are left with a simple pattern.with the cutting they are round and you said it "lot of work".they start inside as round and end as long ovals.
