Roland, Did you do this in photoshop before starting the engraving? Do you do that with most the gun engraving projects? Sure must help to see it this way to see the goal before starting.

Daniel, Yes I am going to try to post the continious step of this work, maybe I am going to wait a new contest ;-).

Steve, I draw the project on the paper with pencil before and after I finish it with the help of photoshop, I make the drawing project not all time but when the customer want one of my creation and when he prefer see it before to help him to see the final engraving.
Some time I make a project to me and I can show it after at the customer and if he like it, it is possible to do it too ;-)

It is a gift to all of us to see the progression of your beautiful work. Thank you. I particularly like the incorporation of the head shot and 'in flight' shot into the scroll work, it adds even more interest.

The more I design myself and the more I look at the masters work the more I apreaciate them showing their work.
Roland,
The depth you accomplish with your shading amazes me more every time
Could you tell us how deep your beading is in comparissan with the top surface?
Truly amazing work!

This bird is very small.
It sounds like you are the last two guy to follow this post and comment it.
You are the bravest.
Over 6400 visit and it is not finished ... The best is for the end.
Daniel, I don't know the distance of the deep, it is my hand who do it and with the time I make the same all time and when I must I can do deeper if I pass two time with my flat graver into the background. The since of pearl in the background is n°3 and I place one by one with hammer.

Bonjour Roland,

I wold not say we are brave ,but,as for me I learn a lot by seeing your in progress projcts and asking questions as it progresses.I must say you also have patience to put up with me by answering the questions !!
It has become a habit to look for "in progress" engraving posts now.

Seriously, you take the time to show and teach others with your photo's.
The least we can do is say we appreciate it a lot. Because we do!!!

Roland

This gun looked great in your initial drawings.

Every step along the way that you've posted has looked great.

The finished work is just incredibly rich. If this gun is intended for use I don't think the owner will actually get much shooting done - there's just too much to look at on the gun.

Thanks for sharing this with us!
