Default scrollwork / shading practice

Had a go at some scrollwork, transferring the image (taken from the online "guide to drawing anthacus") by acetate to the plate caused me great problems. Transfers worked better previously, I will have to spend some time fine tuning that. Anyway after doing a search on the forum ended up putting damar varnish directly onto the plate placing the printed page directly onto the plate letting it dry and then removed the paper by wet rubbing. Parts of the image came out better than others, so there was a lot of guesswork in the engraving. Plate size was maybe too big 100mm (4") x 60mm (<2.5") had it have been smaller the shading may have looked darker.
On a more positive note was happy with the overall result, still had one or 2 slight slips but happy with the progress. Plan to have a go at a different plate later....not getting enough practice week evenings may have to stick to weekends. Critique welcome and appreciated.

John
